I live in Germany so I wouldn't use it here, but I think it would be fine in many other European countries and elsewhere in the world. I don't think it's too trendy.

I was hoping someone from Germany would respond. If said child were to visit Germany would his name be frowned upon?

I'm from the UK originally but I've lived in Germany for a couple of years now. I don't think it would be frowned upon exactly, but it would be a little strange and confusing for some people who don't know that it's a name in English speaking countries- although a lot of people here who are younger and more celebrity-influenced will probably have heard of Jude Law etc and therefore won't really have a big problem with it.
I think if said child just came to Germany for a visit or a short vacation it would be fine, but I wouldn't use it for a child who would grow up here or live here for a significant amount of time.
