[Opinions] Lillian and Evelyn
Is anyone else surprised they are so high up on the popularity list? I'm seriosly wondering whether parents use them to get the nicknames Evie and Lillie and call their daughters by them all of the time. I have never met a Lillian and no Evelyn under the age of 60.
Lillian has been growing on me, wdyt? I also kind of like Evelyn but not enough to use. Do you think Lillians are mostly called Lillie and that the full name would be underused these days? Have you ever met a younger Evelyn or Lillian?

I like both Lillian and Evelyn. I prefer Evelyn without a nickname, but I don't mind Evie. I like the nickname Ev more. It sounds more like Evelyn, and I just think it sounds better.
I know of someone with a neighbor named Evelyn who is around 8. He referred to her as Evelyn, so I'm assuming that she is usually or always called Evelyn rather than Evie or another nickname.
My guess is that a lot of girls named Lillian are called Lillie, but girls named Evelyn seem more likely to be called by their full names.

I've met a few young Evelyns who go by Evelyn. I think people use that name because it is very pretty, not because they want an Evie. I don't know any Evies.
Lillian, on the other hand, probably gets changed to Lily quite often. I think it's very pretty, but then, so is Lily/Lillie. The funny thing is, I've only met one Lily, and she is 14/15. I don't know whether her full name is Lillian.

I suspect you are right, and in most cases they are ways to acquire those nns
I vastly prefer Lilian to Lillian - but I know no child or teen by either spelling, nor by Evelyn.
A Lilian at school always went by the full name - I always wondered why she had such an outdated name, but she had a Scottish surname so I suspect with hindsight that she was named in honour of a relative called Lilias
I know three 60-ish Evelyns - one is always called Eve and the other two go by the full name. My already elderly music teacher at school was an Evelyn known as Eve - her sister was Sylvia

Personally I prefer Liliana to Lillian, and Eve to Evelyn but they are both really nice names and I am happy to hear that they are being used, dismayed however at the thought that you might be right that parents are using them for the more popular nicknames.
Liliana is very high on my list and if I named my daughter this I would call her Liliana most of the time and not Lily. I dislike Evie, I think it is too cutesy, Eve is in the mn spot after a close from of mine but I might have to change it to Evelyn as this name is growing on me very rapidly.

Well, I think they're both beautiful names, so I can see how they're so popular, but I only know one Evelyn and and Evalyn (pronounced the same way). I don't know any Lillian's.
I really love Lillian, but I definitely wouldn't call her Lillie or Lily or anything. I think Lillian is beautiful as it is. I also love Evelyn. I like Evie too, but I wouldn't call her that all the time. But I do kind of think lots of Lillian's are called Lily.

I am rather surprised. I have met a Lillian that is 3 years old and a Lillian that is less than a year old...it does seem kind of odd to me, they seem like "old" names to me. But I think it is interesting on them. However, I am not sure if they are called Lillie, I have only ever heard them called Lillian.
I met a Evelyn that is 15...she is always called Evie...
I do like Lillian, it is one of my grandma's names...she is usually called Lil...Yes, I do like the name Lillian.
