[Opinions] Jared
Can't get that name out of my head right now. I know it's slightly 70s dated, but I like the retro feel it has. I know there's apparently a subway dude named Jared, do you think the association is too strong? I've never even heard of him but I don't watch TV (I watch everything I want to on DVD or my laptop) and haven't seen commercials in ages apart from cinema commercials. Is he a negative association?Jared, Jarrett, Jarrod etc How would you spell it?

Aww, I love Jared! I don't associate it with the Subway guy, or with any guy, really. I just like the name. I dislike other spellings, though.

Not in the US and also don't watch tv, so the only associations I have with Jared are people I know and like - it sounds fine to me. I'd stick with that spelling.

I have a second cousin named Jared (sisters Melody and Bethany). I think it's ok but it's not a favourite of mine. I'd spell it Jared, I don't like Jarrod and I pronounce Jarrett differently.

Jared and Melody are both among my favorites. Cool! I also like Bethany.

As a former Subway employee, I do think of Jared. I also think of the jewelry store (the commercials go "He went to Jared!"). Neither of these associations particularly bother me (especially as Subway is moving away from Jared, I think-- but working there, you occasionally get people asking "Oh have you met Jared, does he eat here?" No and no! And eating here isn't going to make you lose weight like he did either!).Here he is though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_FogleHowever, I just don't like it and never have. I think it's always felt dated to me somehow.Jarrett I guess I don't mind, but I don't think of it as a form of Jared either. Jarrod is really ugly.

I wouldn't associate the Subway guy with the name necessarily, but Jared is also incredibly common where I grew up. I don't particularly care for it. If I had to, I would spell it Jared. Jarrett is a different name to me.

I'm not familiar with this reference. It's an ok name, but it always looks to me like the past of some verb "to jare"

I would have never thought of the Subway spokesperson if you hadn't have mentioned him. I don't think most other people will either.
I did think of Jared Leto, but I doubt most people would think of him though because he's known, but he's not all over the press or anything. And it's not like he's a bad connection anyway. I've actually been trying to decide how I feel about Jared recently too. This spelling only though. I'm not a fan of the others at all.

I hate this name. It sounds ugly to me, and the spellings all look awful. Jared is the correct spelling but it looks weird. Jarrod looks illiterate.
