[Opinions] Celebrity Baby Announcement - Theodora Rose
So I just moved to the UK and I'm getting all of this news about celebrities I've never heard of but apparently Robbie Williams (singer from Angels) and his wife Ayda Field welcomed a baby girl today named Theodora Rose who will "affectionately be known as Teddy."So wdyt? Do you like the nickname Teddy? Personally I think it's cute, kind of a throwback with the name Theodora but Teddy allows it to be cute and modern, kind of like Charlie as a nickname for Charlotte (though I like Charlotte on its own).

I don't like the nickname Teddy. There are so many other cute nickname options they could have chosen instead. Dora being one of them. But, anyway, I do like Theodora; I just wish they had chosen a more substantial middle name and a nicer nickname. And just as a side note, I've never understood Charlie being a nickname for Charlotte. I don't pronounce the Char- in Charlotte the same way I pronounce the Char- in Charlie, so to me, it doesn't seem like Charlie is something derived from Charlotte.

I lie Theodora Rose, but not Teddy. Its just too much of a boys name for me.

Theodora is a lovely name, and I'm fan of first names that can have boy-ish nicknames. My little sister's name is Charlotte and we call her Charlie and Lottie

It's a nice name, although Rose is a little boring. Teddy for a girl, naahh...Thea or Dora or maybe Edda would be cuter.

It's really lovely although Teddy is awful - I agree with previous posters who say there are better shortenings of Theodora.

Theodora Rose is nice, but Teddy makes me gag. Not cute or modern - just self-consciously twee and androgynous, and slightly sleazy (since it's usually masculine, a la Roosevelt, and reminds of teddy bears, and lingerie "teddies"). Would rather see her called Theda.

I adore Theodora, and I like Rose, but I find Rose overused as a middle name. Theodora Rose has too many back-to-back "r" sounds. I would have preferred Theodora with a different middle name or Rose Theodora.Teddy is cute, but I prefer Thea and Dorie.

I like it, especially since celebrities can give their kids some strange names. Rose is a common mn where I am, so that part really makes it a 'normal' name.
