[Opinions] How would you pronunce this?
If you saw the name Juleann(e), would you say it JOOL-ANN or like Julianne?
Yes, I'm still stuck on the sound of Julanne. I thought that Juleann or Juleanne might get the pronunciation across better. Opinions on the name are always welcome, as are ideas for combos. I absolutely would never use Julian(n)a, but I do like Julianne. I simply like the sound of Julanne better.
If I used Julanne, it'd most likely be as a middle name.
Also, Athenry as a middle name--what do you think?

And the old men march slowly, all bent, stiff and sore
The forgotten heroes from a forgotten war
And the young people ask, "What are they marching for?"
And I ask myself the same question

I have family in Athenry. What a nice thought for a name. My only concern is the pronunciation. "athen-rye"
Perhaps I'm just conditioned, but when I first saw Juleanne I immediately thought it was Julianne. To get the pronunciation you want, the only practical way that I can think of is to make it "Jewel Anne."

One problem: With my Midwestern accent, Jewel is two syllables! Similar to the way that Lyle is LYE-ull for me, Jewel is about like JOO-wull.
The reason I like Athenry so much is because of the song "Fields of Athenry." The song itself is sad but hopeful, and the image it gives me is of togetherness and absolute joy--it's one we sing every year at St. Patrick's Day.

I love that song!
"Nothing matters Mary when you're free," and I get a tear in my eye.
