[Opinions] Alistair and Alexa
Replies
Alexa and variants are so popular here, that I'm sick of it. But Alastair/ Alistair is different enough that I still like it. But then, I can think of only 3 Alex/ Alexanders and tons of Alexa/ Lexi/ Alexandra etc.
Since it's your like list, it's up to you. Do you still like the names? I still like Isabelle and Sophia, even though I'd try to keep them off of my to use list because I have a popular name and don't want my future kids to be one of many with a name.

Keep Alistair, lose Alexa. It's not that I dislike Alexa, I just would prefer it as a nickname. I personally prefer to spell Alistair the way I pronounce it - which is Alister (without the AIR sound at the end).
Alister George
Alister James
Alister Jonas
Alister Arthur
Alister Blake
Alexa Niamh
Alexa Jane
Alexa Hope
Alexa Beatrice
Alexa Bo

I dislike Alexa. I work with kids and I see it all the time, and variants of it (In my student teaching class I had both an Alexa and an Alexia, and right now I have an Alexandra, which is also my cousin's name, and there's an Alexa in another class.) Also, I'm just not a fan of Alex- names for girls in the first place.
Alistair I like. It's stuffy but I find that kind of adorable. I like the Alistair spelling the best, but I also like Alasdair because the idea of Dair/Dare as a nickname is appealing to me.
So I bet you can guess I'd say keep Alistair, drop Alexa.

Alexa is my sister's name and I love it. We have only met three others since she was born (which was over 20 years ago, she's older than me) and she has always been the only one with the name in school/dance class etc. I think it's strong, pretty and not overused. Not nearly as common as Alexis and Alexandra. I really like it.
I don't like Alastair. It's not horrible, but it sounds a bit conceited and unattractive. I prefer Alistair over Alastair.
Keep Alexa, lose Alastair, Alistair.
