Wow. You're right. I just googled St. Tigris. According to a Catholic website not only was she the sister of St. Patrick, but she had five sons who all became bishops. I don't know if that changes my mind on the name Tigris, but it definitely puts it in a new light. Thanks!
Ooh
Interesting. That could change my opinion on it too and get rid of the tigress thing!

She's actually the first person I think of when I hear Tigris. I don't actually know that much about her other than that she was St. Patrick's sister, but just the fact that her names was Tigris puts her in the forefront of associations for me :)
I should have done this in my original response, sorry. Better late than never:
Tigris Niamh
Tigris Alannah
Tigris Fidelma
Tigris Gormlaith (Gormlaith makes Tigris look positively usable!)
Tigris Muriel
Tigris Columbia (sorry, I couldn't resist a river theme -- make it Columba and you've got another ancient Irish saint, albeit the wrong sex)
Claudia Tigris
Honoria Tigris
Fidelia Tigris
Daria Tigris
Darina Tigris
Lydia Tigris
Isidora Tigris
Natalia / Natalie Tigris
Niall Tigris (just kidding)
Noel Tigris
Lee Tigris (gah! No more rivers, I promise)
Nigel Tigris
Rory Tigris (I'm going to stop while I'm behind)
Seriously though, I've started to warm up to the name. It's amazing what one historical figure can do to elevate a name. :-) And my apologies to Caprice for hijacking her response.
