I used to like Valerie more than I do now. VAL-eree, rhyme gallery. I can't imagine saying it to rhyme taller-ee with a straight face. That'd be like saying gallery, "GAH-leh-ree." Funny. Of course, I am not a French speaker. Sure I would expect anyone with a French accent to say it like that. But it's not an English pronunciation, by any stretch, IMHO.
I'm not a fan of any of the masculine forms, but Valor (m) is a GP. Valére is a cool name - not the sort of name I'd add to a list of favorite baby names, but appealing.
