I like Mallory. I don't think of it like Tiffany, Melody, Kimberley etc... those are sort of "cheerleader" names to me, and Mallory is darker and less specifically 80's IMO. It reminds me of that girl in those books with the goblins... can't remember the name of the series, but they I think made a movie of it. So basically Mallory makes me think of a dark-haired fencer :P
I "like" the meaning in an ironic way, so I probably wouldn't use it but I wouldn't really mind having the name myself.

Anyway, I rather like the name Mallory. I picture a quiet, homely girl with a sort of fierce inner strength that few people know about.
