[Opinions] Antigone
This has become one of my favorite names. WDYT? Any good combos? What color is it, or what type of image do you get from the name? NN options?Gracias. :)

Oh poor tragic Antigone. Just like the character, Antigone has so much unfulfilled potential. Her strength keeps her from living a nice gentle life. Two of my favorite Antigone combos are Gloria Antigone and Antigone Jane. Antigone itself is a strong lyrical name, but can come across as a bit pretentious in real life. The nn options I see are Tiggy or Annie.

Practically speaking, I think it's better as a middle name, but if I met a little girl named Antigone, I would be thrilled.I think of warm colors when I hear Antigone - various shades of deep red, orangish red, dark yellow, and deep orange.Combos:
Antigone Flora
Antigone Laura / Lora
Antigone Calla
Antigone Margo / Margot
Antigone Margaret
Antigone Fern
Antigone Wren
Antigone May / Mae
Antigone Maeve
Antigone Phaedra
Antigone Giselle
Antigone Iris
Antigone Maura
Antigone Mara
Antigone Vered
Antigone Vera
Antigone Mira
Antigone Freya

Antigone is red for me and I like it as a name but I can't shake the Oedipus association. I don't know, I just couldn't name my daughter after the daughter of someone who killed his father and married his mother and then went mad from it. I understand Antigone was kind of the martyr of the story but I just wouldn't really want the reference connected to my family. It's just that probably 95% of the people that recognize the name and pronounce it right are going to recognize it from Oedipus and the people who don't know will probably learn at some point. I don't know, just kind of one of those good names ruined by bad associations.

Antigone has been a long time favorite of mine as well. It's spunky and charming and unique. Though not unique in a 'My name is Kayti, and my name is totally different from all others. I'm YuuNeek!' kind of way.I particularly like it with the nickname Tig.Antigone is a very purple name.Antigone Ada
Antigone Charlotte
Antigone Clare
Antigone Dorothea
Antigone Kasimira
Antigone Mairwen
Antigone Mara
Antigone Runa
Antigone Ursula

Wonderful sounding, but I look at it and see Anti-Gone.

I love Antigone! It's strong and feminine at the same time, and the classical association is magnificent.Anni / Annie and Tig / Tiggy would be charming nicknames.I think the best middle names for Antigone are those that don't grapple with it for power or attention but are certainly not weak and insubstantial...Antigone Adele
Antigone Alice
Antigone Beryl
Antigone Blythe
Antigone Catherine
Antigone Cecilia
Antigone Celia
Antigone Charlotte
Antigone Clara
Antigone Clare
Antigone Cora
Antigone Delia
Antigone Dora

I love Antigone!
It's mainly for the association and personality traits I associate with it (the sound isn't bad but it's not particularly appealing to me).
I'd use it as a middle name, but I'd like too see it as a first name.Antigone Joan
Antigone Rain
Antigone Sorcha
Antigone Branwen
Antigone Sage
Antigone Rowan
Antigone Willow
Antigone Jane
Antigone Morgan
Antigone Lilith
Antigone LyraI'd use a nickname like Annie or Ani.

I had a children's writer in my HP fanfic named Antigone Payne. lol. I'm not sure I like it for real life, though.

Antigone is definitely an HP type name, isn't it?

I love Antigone! It's red, yellow, and white to me... making it very fiery. Actually I've never even really thought about this before, but Antigone has always seemed like it was on fire to me, which is something I can't say for any other name.Antigone Fawn is my go-to GP combo. I also really like Antigone Laurel - which of course sounds super Greek but actually very tame considering my impression of Laurel is that of a sort of standard middle-aged woman.I'd personally use Annie as a nn but remember seeing someone once consider Tig/Tiggy

It's definitely on fire. I see it in gold and amber, but it's bright .Antigone Fawn is lovely. :)

It reminds me of someone I thought was a freak (though it was not his name, just one of his favorites). It reminds me of "antagonist" as well, which is negative. I can't support.

I can't picture this name on a real person. Besides that I think it sounds ugly. Like a pain medicine or something.
