[Opinions] Seraphine
What do you think of Seraphine? Is it usable or too much? Do you prefer Seraphine or Seraphina?

It's pretty.I prefer Seraphine. Seraphina sounds like a dopey hipster name (though I don't mind Serafina since it's ethnic).

I think it's a beautiful name but yes, it would definitely stand out in real life. That said, I think it could easily work but Seraphina is just too much. I prefer Seraphine for just that reason.

I like Seraphine. It's usable. I prefer it to Seraphina, which is also usable, but too frilly for me.

I like Seraphine, but I don't think it is as pretty as Seraphina. I don't feel this way about all names like this though... I prefer Delphine to Delphina.

Love the name. I prefer the sound of Seraphine, but Seraphina is much more girly and princessy, and I like girly and princessy names.

I love Seraphine & Seraphina. I slightly prefer Seraphina, I don't mind frilly names at all. Both are lovely though.

I think it's beautiful and that it's perfectly usable. I prefer Seraphine.

It's too much. Makes a nice middle name. Serafina seems nicer to me, too. I personally might not like it even if I did really enjoy the sounds in it, just because of the meaning.

Gorgeous!I love both, but I think I prefer the slightly more mature and elegant sounding Seraphine. But I really do love both, and think both are perfectly useable at not too much at all.

Serafina > Seraphine > Seraphina for me. I would name my daughter Serafina, I don't care if people find it frilly, I like the meaning and the sound and I don't really see what's wrong with calling Serafina in a grocery store? Sounds fine to me. Seraphine is alright, mine use it as a middle name but the ph with Seraphina just seems overkill to me.

I like Seraphine and although said aloud Seraphina is probably far too much, I have a huge soft spot for Serafina written down. It's sparky. I like. Anyway, I do really like Seraphine, and although I prefer it as a middle name it's also lovely as a first name and has a couple of nickname options, like Sera and Seph. I don't agree that you'd feel like a "jackass" shouting "Seraphine!" in the supermarket, I really don't... but then I do have a very frilly name myself. Also, I'm more the type to glower and hiss rather than bellow, as is just about everyone I've ever been told off by, so I think shouting anyone's name in a public place would be painfully awkward... but once again, that's my personal experience speaking. For me, shouting "Seraphine!" is no worse than shouting "Anna!"... both are awkward... and in a non-shouting environment, Seraphine is certainly one of the prettier names going, I think.

I agree with insane romantic, I find Seraphine lovely and even though I love names ending in a for some reason Seraphina has always seemed a bit saccharin whereas Seraphine seems just right. DH didn't care for it at all though.

I think it's quite pretty. I prefer it over Seraphina because Seraphina is just a bit too frilly and mythological-sounding for me. Seraphine seems more useable.

I think Seraphine has a very pretty sound, but yes it is too much. Maybe if she was a princess or something then it would work. Seraphina is even worse.

I can't picture a real, ordinary person being named either one. It's very much a fantasy-novel name in my mind. Also, Seraphine sounds like some kind of food wrap you cover your dishes with.

For me, it's too much. I can't imagine calling "Seraphine!" in a crowded supermarket. It would make me feel like a jackass.I don't like Seraphina, either (surprise!).

I wouldn't mind calling it in a crowded supermarket. But I grew up with an Aristoteles, a Ceridwen and people named Cambrie, Agatha, Mylene, Aquinnah and Clarity so from my experience very unusual names can work well in real life.

I can't imagine calling "Seraphine!" in a crowded supermarket. It would make me feel like a jackass. That is so funny and so true. I feel that way about a lot of the more uncommon names mentioned on this board, even the ones I like.
