[Opinions] Luana
Do you pronounce it loo-AH-na or loo-ANN-a?What would a Luana be like? What would her parents be like?Do you think it's tacky or country-ish?

I really like Luana, I say it loo-ANN-a but I like it however. I have no idea what a Luana would be like but as a name it seems kind of lush and graceful. -ana is airy sounding but the Lu- part is strong and grounds it. It doesn't sound at all country-ish to me, I don't really have any associations with it. Isn't it kind of trendy in France? Or maybe that's just the Lou sound? Anyway I'd guess a Luana would be European. That's about it.

Louane is very trendy in France but I've never met a Luana or Louana. Lou by itself is also pretty common.

I knew a Luana. She was one of my teachers in middle school. She was always very nice, so I kinda like the name. It does sound a bit country, but it's one of the few country-ish names that I don't have a problem with.

I'd say loo-AH-na. I almost always pronounce -ana as AH-na and -anna as AN-na.It reminds me of LuAnn platters at Luby's (a chain of Texas cafeterias), Luanne Platter from "King of the Hill," and LouAna cooking oil. Apparently, LouAna's recipe mailing list/fan club thing is called the "Southern Fryers," and that more or less fits the vibe I get from Luana: southern fried and country, but probably not unusably so.

Loo-AH-nah.I think she'd be a ditzy yet bubbly kind of person.
