[Opinions] Re: Liz, as a nickname for Elizabeth and a survey
in reply to a message by Lily
I like Elizabeth and most often the nickname Liz is what I think of first. Every one I know named Elizabeth spells it this way but it can also be Elisabeth. However, I prefer Elisabeth. I know a 8th grader named Elizabeth who is most often called Liz or Lizzie.I have a cousin in her 30s named Elizabeth who is called Elizabeth often but also Liz.I know an Elizabeth that is 21 who always is called Beth. For a year I thought her name was Bethany because all Beths I knew where Bethany or just Beth and I'd never met an Elizabeth that went by Beth before that.I have a 6 year old cousin Lizabeth. Lizabeth is her full name, not Elizabeth. She is always called Libby. I know a little girl named Elizabeth. She's about 3 or 4. I don't know her too well but I've occasionally heard her family refer to her as Eliza. There aren't any I really don't like but I'm not too fond of Lizbeth or Lizbet. Lily, Effy, and Buffy don't make sense at all. I think Lisa only works when spelled Elisabeth. Others nicknames could be:
Elise with the spelling Elisabeth.
Bess can be but for me it seems like a stretch
Same with Bessie, Bessy, Betsy
Elsa with Elisabeth
I've heard Tetty too but I don't get it.
Bette While it is a stretch and I've never actually heard of it being done Zabeth, Zab, Zabbie, Sabeth, Sab, Sabbie could work and even I guess Seth with Elisabeth.
