I think you mean Adlai Stevenson, and yes, Adlai is such an unusual name it's hard not to make that association. Or maybe not. I wonder if young people today remember a twice-unsuccessful candidate for the Presidency from the 1950s.
Now that I think of it, I kind of like Adlai. It sounds rather nice. I like the way it sounds more than the way it looks written down.

There's a high school in my area named after him, so there's at least 4000 teenagers who should at least know of him.
(his wikipedia page says there's several schools named after him, but the one near me was the first.)
