[Opinions] Amy
For whatever reason, the name Amy popped into my head and will not leave! I have never given the name any thought before. I know it was quite popular in the 1970s and 1980s, but it sounds fresh to me and fits in with many of the other names that are popular right now.
It's really different from my other favorite names (Caroline, Genevieve, Sylvie, Desmond, Harrison, Elliott), but I still really like it.
What do you think about Amy? If you met a little girl named Amy, what would you think? What middle names do you like for Amy?

Amy is from my own generation, so I think of it as a girl name and as a grown-up name. I'm not sure I'm able to judge whether it's too dated, or not. I think it's strong and modest/casual. The AIM sound is not a weak sound! But the name Amy isn't too dressed up. I really like it. My favorite combo is probably Amy Lark. I also like Amy Rose.
I like it but it still seems to me to be tired and overused. If I met a little girl named Amy, I'd think the same thing that I think about the parents of a six-year-old Heather whom I know. "Her parents used a name that was wildly popular but they did so after the name had passed its period of popularity but way way before it could ever become popular again, so even though their kid will not be one of many kids her own age with the same name, she still has a tired and over-the-hill name. Are they clueless, or what?"
I've always really liked Amy. It's never seemed dated to me for some reason, maybe because I've never known any. I think it sounds really sweet.
I'd love to meet a little girl named Amy! In fact, I'm hoping my friend who is having a daughter named Amelia will call her daughter Amy now and then. I know I will want to. :)

I love Amy's sweet simplicity. It also brings to mind Amy Robsart and Elizabeth I of England. I love names that transport me back in time like that. :-)

That's very sweet of you to say. :-) Thanks.
Boring. So very, very, very boring. Like Emily in that it is everywhere. It has lost all meaning to me. It has become a beige-y nothingness. Honestly, I wish it'd just go away and stay away for a really long time. Maybe be rediscovered in 2045.
I think it's in line with Caroline, Sylvie, and Elliott. Maybe even Harrison.
If I met a little girl named Amy should would be very forgettable. Like I said, it's almost a non-name because it's so usual. It's part of the scenery that gets overlooked because we've seen it a million times before. It's flavorless.
Okay, I just keep going and going and going. I'm sure you get the point! :P
