[Opinions] Alexis
for a girl, wdyt? Yeah, I know it's overused, but I like the sound. Middle name only. For some reason on a boy it only makes me think of a drag queen. Opinions?
Can you rate or rank these Alex-names for girls? And comment on them if you have time :)
Alexa
Alexis
Alexandria
I don't care for the others but if you could choose between all Alex-names, which one and why?
How many girls and boys with Alex-names do you know?
Alexa
Alexis
Alexandra
Alexandria
Alexander
other?
which ones are too common?

My favorite Alex- name for a girl is Alexandria. It reminds me of the Egyptian city and its vast library, which is a nice association.
I don't really like Alexis for a girl or a boy. It does make a better middle name, I think. Although, I do rather like Lexie as a nickname.

Of the three you chose, I prefer Alexis for a middle name, but Alexa for a first name. Alexa is slightly softer and easier to say, and would be less likely to be shortened to Alex or Lexi, but for a middle name, Alexa would sound like a cop out; Alexis would be a more sophisticated choice (I think).
My favourite Alex name is Alexandra, but only as it is pronounced in Europe - aleks-AH-ndra. That pronunciation is absolutely beautiful; alegz-ANN-dra is not. But in an English speaking country, people would always pronounce it the second way.
There is one Alexandra I know of in my social circle.

I like Alexis, like you said it has a really nice sound. I've never met anyone called Alexis, but I do know it's common on little girls now.
My order for the three Alex names you have is
Alexis
Alexa
Alexandria - I really don't like this name.
My favourite Alex name is Alexia. It sounds lovely, is not very common and it just has a really nice musical quality to it. I like Alessia too.
I know heaps of people with Alex names, though no Alexises or Alexandrias. I can't really give you a number, but it would be at least eight I think. They're all called Alexandra or Alexander, except for one, a girl who is just called Alex. One of the Alexandras goes by Alexa and most of the Alexanders are just Alex. One Alexandra goes by Zan (or maybe Xan). I know more girls than boys with Alex names.

I like it better for a girl than for a boy, but it feels very 90s... I like Alexa better.
Hard to really count how many off the top of my head...
I also know an Alejandra and an old family friend has a little boy named Alejandro.
They're all somewhat common, with the possible exception of Alexandria... However, as long as you pair it w/ something less common, it could work.

I don't care much for Alexis. It sounds rather stripper-like to me.
Alexandria seems over the top, but I like Alexandra or Alexa well enough.
If I had to, I would go with Alexandra. For any of these names I would use the nn Allie.
I know:
Alexa- 2
Alexis- 2 (one goes by Lexie)
Alexandra- at least 8 (Most go by Alex, one goes by Ally, one goes by Zandra or Z, and two don't use a nn)
Alexandria- 0, but it's a place name near me
Alexander- at least 5 (one goes by Lex, the rest by Alex)
Others I know:
Alexei (male)
Alexene (female, goes by Alex)
Alexia (2, one goes by Lexi)

Alexis on a girl is okay, not a favorite but I like it better than Alexa, Alexandra or Alexandria. I actually went to school with a girl named Alexis who was a couple grades ahead of me. She was and stil is a spoiled, obnoxious woman, and her daughter Baylee is in my daughter's class; Baylee is every bit as spoiled and obnoxious as her mother.
My husband went to school with a boy named Alexis, though they didn't find that out till graduation. He was just called Alex; his family is Greek.
I really hate the nn Lexi. It sounds so cheap and ditzy. The Alexis I went to school with still goes by Lexi.
