[Facts] Re: Remillion
According to both Noms et Prenoms de France by Albert Dauzat and A Dictionary of Surnames by Hanks & Hodges, the French surname Remillon is a diminutive of Remy. There is a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska called Papillion, and that is derived from the French word papillon, "butterfly." I would think that French names or words ending in -llon would often be spelled with -ion by English speakers who hear them, to better represent the "-yon" sound in the original French. So I think it's likely that Remillion is a respelling of the French surname Remillon and so ultimately derives from Remy.
