[Opinions] Re: Kateri
I've loved Kateri for years but felt guilty because I never knew if I was pronouncing it correctly, "KATE-ery." I did some research on-line and found a website devoted to Kateri Tikawitha (sp?), the U.S. saint. According to them, it's pronounced, "KAH-ter-ee." I felt let down because I don't really care for that. And now I see from the two posters below me that they are pronouncing it two different ways, "KAT-ery" and "kah-TEHR-ee." Now I'm even more apprehensive. As a combination Kateri Maya has always appealed to me. I think it's the juxtaposition of a North American fn with the name of a Central American people that does it. Or is that too cheesy? I still love the name. I just don't know how I would say it out loud, in real life. If that doesn't bother you, and it is for a charater in a book, then I think it would make a great name for you. Surname? How about:Kateri Pym
