[Opinions] Monroe

What do you think of the name Monroe?Boy? Girl?I always loved Monroe as a boy name, but the other day in Target there was an adorable little girl named Monroe. She kind of made me like it as a feminine name. I have to admit its my current name crush.

It's completely a surname to me. I don't like the idea of it as a first name at all, but if it used as a first name, it's much better on a boy. I can understand why someone would use Monroe on a girl though, probably after Marilyn Monroe.

Boy, though I wouldn't cringe at the thought of a girl Monroe. I think it's both glittery and glamorous (Marilyn), and presidential (James). Quite the combination.

I like it! I once named a puppy at a shelter I was volunteering at "Monroe" because she was such a beautiful diva. I was 16 and I thought a dog named Monroe was way cooler than a dog named Marilyn. Now you'd better believe that dog would be MARILYN. How awesome.ANYWAYS as far as bombshell names go, I like Monroe more than Harlow. I just like how it looks. I enjoy how it sounds. And I think it's equally cool on a male or female. I can't choose!

I just can't tolerate this as a girls name. I just can't. It sounds manly, and not just manly, but middle age, greasy tupee wearing manly. HM, makes me wonder if I knew someone named that! hahaha!!As far as really using it, I thik you would be fine in doing so. Now that Mariah Carey has named her daughter Monroe, it's possible that many others will do similarly and it will be a girls name all together after awhile.

I think it's okay on a boy, just a surname name which is nms but it's not the worst.
I think it's in the same league as Chanel, Lexus, and Peaches on a girl, because on a girl, it appears to be inspired by Marilyn Monroe. I have a hard time imagining it as "just" a surname name, when it's used on a girl. Marilyn is too much of an icon, and not the sort of icon that I think is suitable to inspire naming.
