[Opinions] Archibald vs Abraham
I've been thinking alot about Archibald and Abraham lately. There were 3 Archibalds in my family. My great grandfather, and two great uncles on both sides of my familyI also have a great uncle Abraham, and Dave was going to be named Abraham. Both have lovely significance to my family, but im not sure which one I like. I love Archibald and the nickname Archie, but I fear Archie is too popular and I fear Archibald is too old man (and also we teased a kid in primary school whose last name was Archibald, we called him itchy balls... )Abraham is really a big name, it seems so adult and grown up, I would worry that a baby Abraham would seem so strange! For nickname it would either be Abie, Bram or Abram.Which do you like best. (Keep in mind im in Australia so the whole Abraham Lincoln thing isn't a huge deal)Also siblings would possibly be: Theodore, Ignatius, Daphne and Winifred (or some combination)
Combo suggestions or other similar names are welcome too :)

I adore Archibald, and I prefer it to Abraham both generally and as a brother to Theodore, Ignatius, Daphne, and Winifred.

I would probably go with Abraham, but Archibald is a better fit with Theodore, Ignatius, Daphne, and Winifred. I'm not too keen on the -bald part of Archibald. I used to not care for Archie, but it has grown on me some to the point that I find it somewhat endearing. If you'd like a less popular nickname, how about Archibald "Archer"?As for Abraham, I agree that it sounds very grown up. I don't really care for the nickname Abe, but I love Bram as either a full name or nickname. Abram is also a good nickname option, but you may consider using Abram as a full name. It would work with the possible sibling names.

I like Archibald better and Archie is lovely. If Archie is common, then I think Archibald is less likely to be teased than if Archie or Archibald was a totally unheard of name. Also, he would probably be called Archie most of the time.I find Abraham to be an old man's name, and I don't really like any of the nicknames. Abie is the best one, but I feel it might be confused with the girls name Abbie.

I do like both names, but I definitely prefer Abraham. I'm in Australia too and agree that Archie is popular, so that would put me off slightly. I think Abraham is a big name for a little baby, but we're adults for a lot longer than we're kids, so he would most definitely grow into the name. Bram is a very cute nn. I think it would be lovely to meet or hear about a baby Abraham!

Archibald just sounds like an insult. Like you said itchy balls. It also sounds like "aren't you bald?" I don't see appeal in a name that ends in bald. I think Archibald and Archie are too old though I guess that is because I live in the U.S. and no body has been called Archie in like 50 years. Abraham sounds really handsome. I get that it is a big name and so grown up sounding but I think Archibald is exactly the same in that respect. I think a baby Abraham would be marvelous. I love the nicknmae Abram and Bram is nice too. That also takes away the bigness of the name and makes it more suited for a child and doesn't have so many teasing factors.

Abraham seems like an ancient artifact to me, very Biblical and severe. But I don't think it'd be strange. I like nn Bram.
Archibald isn't so great, but Archie is okay.
I'd go with Archibald "Archie" - or maybe pronounce the ch as k and call him "Arc" or "Arko" or something, something more puppyish and less cutesy than Archie - if it were my kid and those were my choices.

I strongly prefer Abraham. I just cannot get over the "bald" part in Archibald, and the feeling I get from the name is cold and distant (though also intellectual). Abraham, on the other hand, is warm, wise, approachable, and comes with a better set of nicknames. I do agree that is a big name for a young person to carry, however.

I like Archibald but I love Abraham. Archibald is one of those names that I can't imagine on anyone except some old rich man, probably Daddy Warbuck's real name. Abraham on the other hand just seems so approachable but at the same time dignified. I love the nickname Abe too (or Bram)

Living in another country, I'm seeing Archibald differently. It's mostly just comical. It's so stuffy and fanciful and over-the-top. I like it (hypothetically) because of those qualities, but I can't imagine it in real life. I've never seen one before. And Archie always surprises me to know it's popular elsewhere. Here it is probably strongly associated with Archie comics (it is to me, anyway). So it's mostly just goofy.Abraham, on the other hand, I really like. It's a very strong name, but has a gentleness to it too. Here it wouldn't have any issues (the Lincoln association isn't a negative, and most people probably have a Biblical association over that). I've known several Abrahams from babies to old guys. They all went by Abe, but I adore Bram. Big thumbs up from me for Abraham nn Bram.I think either of those names would fit in a sibset with the names you've listed.
