I really like Azalea. It's spunky and energetic but still very pretty.
Zaylee makes sense as a nickname, but it is a bit close to trendy names like Kaylee. I'd probably go with Zalea.

I don't care for Azalea. It feels too gimmicky somehow.
But I've been in love for years with a French name, Zelie ("ZAY-lee")(with an accent going up over the first 'e'). I believe it is in the database as a user-submitted name.
In doing research for Zelie I came accross several possible origins. One of them is the French form of Azalea. Marion Zelie is my stock combination. It feels vampy and classy at the same time.
But I've been in love for years with a French name, Zelie ("ZAY-lee")(with an accent going up over the first 'e'). I believe it is in the database as a user-submitted name.

Azalea is pretty. I look forward to when those bushes bloom in the spring, usually around the same time as forsythia around here. Zaylee is an intuitive nickname and I like that, but the spelling reminds me too much of Kaylee/Haylee/Jaylee etc. Not that the spelling of a nickname matters too much, but for my own kid I'd probably spell it Zalie.

See? That's why I come here. I've never cared for Azalea as a name until I see it as a mn for Katherine. The combination "Katherine Azalea" sings majestically. Well done, Amazing.

I can understand its appeal, and Zaylee is cute - but the meaning "dry" puts me off!

I believe that Azalea is given as a name because the flowers bloom even in the dryest of climates. I think the true usage of the name is sort of like the desert bloom or one who blooms even without water...

For me, Azalea is sweet relief from Amelia. I really don't like Zaylee, though. Zala, or Zalea, perhaps.

Zaylee on its own appeals to me more than Azalea. I could never warm to this as a name for a person, no matter how hard I tried. It sounds like it's trying too hard. That's the best way I can describe it.

Zaylee makes sense as a nickname. I'd probably always forget to enunciate the Ah- part and end up using Zalea all the time, myself :)

It's a beautiful, energetic name. It's one of my favorite flower names after Iris and Dahlia.
