Just figured I'd throw my impression in. I thought it sounded grandpa-ish at first but then I though about it and it does sound like a decent name. I think there are better ed- names, like Edwin and Edmund, but Edgar isn't at all bad. I like it. I think it's sweet and charming, like a guy who blushes every time he sees you.

It has kind of a weird mad scientist's assistant image to it (kind of like Igor) and I find it kinda ugly... something about the gar ending just doesn't draw me.

I work with a guy named Edgar. He's a Mexican in his 20s. It's actually not an uncommon name among Hispanics, which could easily account for it's position in the top 1000. I like the name and it is a family name for me, but it isn't a name I would use.

I think it's a very cute name. I've never met an Edgar and it's not popular at all on babies here in Australia. I think most parents these days would find it too "Grandpa" and old fashioned.

I like the news that Edgar is still being used often enough to have evaded the fate of Gordon.

I like Edgar a lot. He's a little stodgy, but still charming and handsome. I used to prefer Edward, but lately it's been seeming a little flimsy and the Twilight association, though weak, bothers me.

I think it's the "gar" that makes it sound really harsh to me. Edward or Edmund would be better, in my opinion. Although personally I prefer Edison or Edric.

I know an 80-something, very charming Edgar. It sounds distinguished, but is a bit too clunky for me, and reminds me of "headgear".
I love Edward, and quite like Edmund, but dislike "Ed" and "Eddie" as nns

I like Edgar! Edmund is my favourite name for a boy so it falls short comparatively for me, but I do like Edgar.

I really like it. I think of Edgar Allan Poe who was very talented.

It's one of those names I like, but then when I actually sit and think about it I like it even more. It's very dashing and princely. I associate it with the character in Final Fantasy III, which I like. However, I only like it hypothetically. I prefer Edward or Edwin and think they'd fare better for real-life use.
