Dominic or Desmond ... I like them both. On most days though, I prefer the spelling Dominick.
I really don't like Donovan. It's too wannabe-Irish, which is obviously trendy, and will date him.

Dominic!
Desmond!
It's a very hard choice. I like them all, but I think I'd personally go for Desmond, followed closely by Dominic (only I prefer the spelling Dominik).

Desmond!
But all 3 are nice names.
But all 3 are nice names.
I like all of these but I'd have to say in order Dominic, Donovan, then Desmond.
Dominic is cute and royal sounding and works so well in today's society.
Donovan is cute and it's nice that it honors your father, but as a last name I don't think it works quite as well in todays society and there's the posibility of nicknames like Don and Donnie / Donny which are rather old-fashioned.
Desmond is nice too but has rather a yuppie sound to it that might get teased though the nickname Desi is really cute! :)

I prefer Dominic but lately (at least here) Domonic has been surging in popularity and is becoming too popular for my taste. I also like Donovan very much. I don't care for Desmond.

Dominic, a great name!!
Desmond
I like Desmond the best, a name which has been growing on me lately.
Donovan is nms, it gives me a soap opera feeling, probably from Jason Donovan and the show Neighbours in the 80's. (As an Eagles fan I should relate it to their quarterback, but we don't speak of the birds any more this season.)
Dominic is nms either, maybe it just has too much of a foreign ring to my ears, I'm more likely to jump to the female Dominique. But I could change my mind, it has the qualities I like in a name, so to speak.

Dominic... bright & butch. Desmond is .. well, it's nice on paper, but I think in real life it'd give people an impression of softness. If you mind. I think I'd avoid naming a boy anything I thought people would perceive as soft, although I might like it a lot. Donovan is pretty hip, but with no nickname (and for me, Don won't do), it seems a teeny bit stuffy.

I agree...
... about Desmond having the air of softness somehow.

Donovan
I like Desmond the best. I love unusual names and I've never heard that one before!
Desmond
I like Dominic best. Desmond is second fave, it's been really growing on my lately. I have an Uncle Des, not sure if his full name is Desmond, I think it might be. So if you go with Desmond, Des is a lovely nn for it!
Dominic, no contest.
Desmond sounds too outdated to me to make a comeback and Donovan just sound kind of sleazy. Was there a singer from the '70s or thereabouts called Donovan? If there wasn't, that's at least the impression I get from it. But Dominic--I just like that name. It's nice, not overused, classy.
