I like it. It's too frilly for me to use personally, but the V and the O make it stronger than other "frilly" names, so I still like it.

Basically anything short and elegant, with "dark" tones (something that would make you think of velvet).

For nicknames, Violet, Vi, V, or Viola would be my picks. Letta (Letty? Etta?) could work too, but I don't like that as much.
