I pronounce them differently.
I prefer Gwyneth. I think it looks better and I generally prefer unaltered versions of names.
I quite like the nn Gwyn. If I wanted the nn Gwen I'd use Gwendolen.

Thanks for your response. Like I mentioned to mirfak, I like the look of Gwen a thousand times better than Gwyn but I also dislike Gwendolen (which seems clunky to me) so that's where my problem lies :/ Also, I'm not normally a fan of altered names either but "gwenith" is the Welsh word for "wheat" (which is why I like the imagery I get from it) so it's not necessarily and altered version of Gwyneth.
