For a girl or a boy? I think it would be quite nice on a girl -- it's strong and different, but simple and not flashy. The Athena association is nice, and I think it's a nice alternative to that name if one wants to use a goddess name (I don't like Athena as a name all too much). I have trouble imagining it on a boy since it feels more feminine than masculine to me.

I would prefer Pallas to Persis on any gender, however. I don't think Pallas sounds too much like phallus (pahl-uhs vs fal-iss) but I could see why one might be concerned with visual similarities. It's never crossed my mind before, however.
