The Edmunds-Fletcher Family:
DSO: Leo Frederic Edmunds (33)
DSO: Amelia Jane Davis Fletcher (34)
DD: Lily Margaret Fletcher-Edmunds (7)
DS: Benjamin Harris Edmunds "Bennie" (7)
DD: Sophie Rose Fletcher-Edmunds (2)
DD: Evangeline Violet Fletcher-Edmunds (nb)
Just after Lily's adoption went through, Amelia found out she was pregnant again. She and the kids were all ecstatic to find out there would be another baby added to the family, especially Sophie. She is quite mature for her age and loves the idea of being a big sister. The ongoing fight with Bennie's biological mother over Amelia's desire to adopt him couldn't dampen their spirits. When they found out the baby was a girl, they all sat down and talked about her name together. It was Lily who suggested Evangeline, a name from her favorite movie, The Princess and the Frog. The entire family loved it, even Sophie, who says "Evanglee." Leo selected Violet, tocontinue the flower theme with Lily and Sophie and also after his grandmother.
The excitement turned to fear when Amelia began to experience pain and nausea late in her pregnancy. What was expected to be a routine trip to the doctor turned into a rush to an operating room when it was discovered she was preeclamptic. Evangeline was delivered by C-section at 34 weeks. She weighed only three pounds, but everything was functioning well and she gained weight quuickly, so she only spent a week and a half in the NICU before she was allowed to be brought home. This was certainly a difficult time for all the family, especially Sophie, who couldn't understand why she couldn't hold the baby and why Mama and Daddy spent so much time at the hospital, but they helped one another and got through it. When she was born, Evangeline was tiny with a little bit of light hair and she was very wrinkled and skinny, but by the time she came home she was plump and had a head of reddish-brown hair. Her eyes were always bright, the same dark blue Sophie's were, so they are expected to turn the same color.
