I don't see anything wrong with Edith. I have a soft spot for it. It's a sweet name that isn't too popular, and it works well for a variety of ages.
I've met a young Edith before, so I can imagine as a young person's name.

Well, some people like it, but I think a number of people would find it rather ugly. I do. Similar category to Ethyl, but not quite as bad. Nn Edie redeems it somewhat. It feels kind of awkward too. Maybe it's the d and th together... Perhaps subconsciously a little too close to death in its sound...
