[Opinions] Rosa
I'm still taking in all the comments about Ophelia from yesterday...thinking that it might be just a bit too loaded despite my total love for the name. To today, I'm thinking of some new options. What do you think of Rosa? It's a new one on my list.Do you think Scarlett and Rosa in one sibling set is too much red?

I think Rosa is lovely and would be so happy to see a sibling set of Scarlett and Rosa. I don't think the red theme is too much, it doesn't bother me.

Scarlett and Rosa is too much red in one sibset, but I like Rosa. It's a sweet name, yet strong at the same time.

ADORE!!Rosa is within my top 4 names and I think it's absolutely stunning. Most days I can't decide if I like Rose or Rosa better but Rosa sounds better with my LN and a Rosa could easily go by Rose. So yeah, I think it's great!I don't necessarily think Scarlett and Rosa are too much for one sibset.... if you were considering it as a FN/MN combo I might feel differently

Love Rosa. It's much better than Rose. :)

I like it. I like it much better than Scarlett.I don't think it's a problem to have both in a sibset, although I think it would be too much in one combo. On the other hand, I don't think they go well together at all as sisters - Rosa and Ophelia would be soooo much better!

Scarlett is my daughter so there's no changing that one...thank you for your comment though:)

I missed the Ophelia thread, sorry.I love Rosa! It's so overlooked compared to Rose. It's feminine, elegant without being overly complicated. What's not to love?I'm not a fan of Scarlett at the best of times. So take this with a grain of salt. But yes, Scarlett and Rose / Rosa are too red for one combination. A former co-worker named her dd Scarlett Rose. Even my dh, who couldn't care less about names, said, "Don't they both mean red?" It's bad when even he picks up on it.Scarlett and Rhoda, perhaps? It would have a similar meaning, but not as obviously red as Scarlett and Rosa.

Agreed...it popped into my head and I thought maybe Rosa bi-passed the obvious red connection that is there with Rose but after thinking about it, I think you're right.

I love Rosa, it's simple and elegent, and i think it goes well with Scarlett

Rosa is beautifully simple and vastly underrated! I love it.I'm not too keen on Rosa as a sister to Scarlett, though.

Ya, I'm thinking the same:( This is so hard...all the names I love seem to have some kind of flaw that makes them unusable. My absolute favourite is Cordelia- desperately trying to get DH to agree to it. The other one that's high on our list is Louisa.

Ooooo the idea of Scarlett, Malcolm and Cordelia in a sibset makes me swoon! I have a certain affinity for sibsets that share a common letter. I do hope your DH gives in!

I'm pressing hard...he likes it more if he can use the nickname Coco and I'm all for that if I get my Cordelia...I LOVE the repetitive 'c' as well...the 3 together make me VERY happy...crossing fingers!!

Ooh, both Cordelia and Louisa complement Scarlett unexpectedly well!

Louisa is in top spot right now and I think Scarlett, Malcolm and Louisa sound lovely together. Cordelia is my true love name but sadly, I don't think DH loves it as much as I do...working on him though:)
Glad to hear you think they both work well with Scarlett...I'm a big fan of your naming style!

While I don't like it as much as Rosalie, it is an ok name and the first association w/ the name that comes to my mind is Rosa Parks, which is a positive one... a woman w/ some chutzpah.
Since roses come in many colours besides red, I don't consider Scarlett and Rosa too much red for 1 sibset. They sound pleasant enough together... Plus, both girls would have their own lives and personalities, so it's not that big an issue anyway if there's a slight colour relation... As long as you don't have another child named Red or Rouge, I think you'll be ok on that.

I LOVE Rosalie as well but it sounds terrible with my last name- two syllables/rhymes with Jovi. I did read somewhere that Rosa means pink in a few other languages so I guess I am somewhat apprehensive about the multiple colour thing...probably not a big deal though b/c happily, the other sibling is Malcolm...no colour relation there:)

Yes, rose is pink in Fr... and Span. is similar on that... But Scarlett and Rosa are so different style-wise, it's not that big an issue.
Less concerned w/ rhyminess on girls' names because of the potential their surnames will change later in life, but still a consideration. Rosa is still a pleasant name. There's also Rosalia.
