[Opinions] Re: Romy
in reply to a message by Ismene
I think Romy would be a great nn. Rose Miela is a cute combo as well. I'm not in love with Miela on its own but it goes really well with Rose and is good as a mn in general. Miela adds something to Rose that it really needs. I also like the meanings of these names and how they fit together. Miela is a mn not a part of the fn right? If it is intended as a double name fn, unless you want your child to be Romy Surname during roll call she will be Rose Miela Surname. Unless you are in a country where they would know how to pronounce Miela they will not pronounce it correctly. If you are okay with that then everything is good, because I like Rose Miela "Romy".

Do you pronounce it (mee-E-lah)? Because when I see Miela I think it should be pronounced (my-LAH) or (my-ELLA) or (mee-ELLA) or (mee-AY-lah). I only knew how to pronounce it because I checked. Personally I think that there is nothing wrong with a middle name that is hard to figure out how to pronounce. I think this since people almost never see other peoples middle names. And most of the time middle names come up will be because you are saying their middle name. In that case people won't be seeing how the name is spelled and won't have to figure out how to pronounce it.

Yes I pronounce it "mee-EH-lah" or "mee-ELLA" and since it would be the MN, as you mentioned, I don't see it being an issue since MNs are rarely ever announced by anyone other than the holder themselve of their parent
