Just a few months after Leander's birth, Maude became engaged, to a handsome fellow named Franco Alaric, from the Royal House of Northcliff in the Kingdom of Halycon. Maude was lucky enough, being the eldest child of Gideon, to be able to marry for love and not for political advancement. Franco Alaric was handsome and foreign, and Maude adored him. However, to make him appeal more to the people of Oleander, he chose to go by the nickname Frank, seeming less foreign and more like an Oleanderite. Since Maude's engagement, Theodosia has delivered two more healthy children, a boy named Stellan and a girl named Emilia. The King, Kingdom and Royal Advisors are thrilled, especially that they were single births. However, Gideon feels a sense of unease, like something terrible is waiting just around the corner...
