Not sure how many Marys, Maries and Marias I know. They vary in age. Most are adults though. Not being Catholic or in a Catholic part of the country, there weren't oodles and oodles in my life, but enough.
On a worldwide scale, it seems to be the most common female name out there and has no draw for me whatsoever.
The Japanese have some Mari names not directly connected with the Hebr. roots of the Mary names. It just works out with their syllabic language system and from that I like Marika with the kanji for the jasmine plant and fragrance.
