[Opinions] Re: Nicknames as first names

I don't consider Ada, Audrey, Gwen, Eli, Ella, Flora, Jules, Luc, or Levi to be nicknames, although some of them can be used as nicknames, such as Eli for Elijah. Based upon Audrey, I'm curious if you'd consider my own name (Alison) to be a nickname since it is a medieval French diminutive of Aalis, just as Audrey started out as a medieval diminutive for some impossible-to-type Old English name.
From the rest, I think Eliza, Margot, and Heidi have the legs to stand on their own and long histories of doing so. As does Jack, though I personally can't stand it. Annika and Sacha are fine with me. I prefer Sally as a nickname, but I think it can stand alone.
I prefer Annie, Alex, Angie, Kit, Maggie, and Penny to be nicks for longer names.
Some of my favorites that I think can stand alone are Greta, Alec, Tess, and Thea. I also like Ty, but I don't know that I'd use it.
