From the Royal House of: Tyrian
In the Kingdom of: Kyrn
The threat of war loomed large over the kingdom of Kyrn for years. The Free Armies kept amassing troops on the Kyrian border, as if preparing for attack. Yet all of a sudden, three years after the resistance movement began, it ended. Without a shot being fired or a single man killed, the Solandrans made overtures for peace. While the kingdom rejoiced, Joseph Wilhelm remained wary, for his instinct told him that the Solandrans had something else up their sleeve.
Nonetheless, the cessation of (or at least pause in) hostilities improved the king's mood dramatically. For the first time in a long time, things seemed to be looking up for the royal family. Joseph Wilhelm finalized the marriage of his fourteen-year-old illegitimate son, Gareth, to a daughter of Duke Aldric of Dunlin, thereby cementing the alliance between the Kyrnians and Dunns. He was in the process of making a similar match for his eldest child, Princess Genevieve, who at fifteen years old was of marrying age. His other daughters, twelve-year-old twins Augustine and Emmanuelle, were progressing nicely in their studies, and the king was pleased to know that they were becoming proper ladies of the royal court. On top of all this, the young queen gave birth to two children in as many years. And as his wife was still young, healthy, and beautiful, Joseph Wilhelm had no intention of stopping there.
Meanwhile, the king's eldest sons-- the princes Magnus, Dorian, and Stellan-- were all being trained in the art of war. In the five years since he had arrived at the military academy, Magnus had proven himself adept with the sword, and none of his instructors doubted that he would make a fine soldier someday. Dorian and Stellan, though they had only just arrived at the academy, showed strong potential for following in their brother's footsteps. Yet for all the boys' exceptional martial skills, they were often equally as merciful-- a trait that no Kyrnian soldier should have. Little did the instructors know that the young princes had struck up a friendship with the Master Armorer, Breccan Pike-- who, unbeknownst to everyone else, was their true father. Breccan made every attempt to spend time with his sons, and his influence taught the boys to be firm but fair in battle.
In all, the kingdom of Kyrn was at peace-- but for how long?
