The past six years have not been kind to Royal Father Wulf. Stress has been a constant companion since Queen Bea joined the family. Wulf still does not trust her in the least! What's even worse is that Ten doesn't want to listen to any of it without cold-hard proof. However, Basi follows his grandfather's lead and doesn't trust (or like) Queen Bea. This is mostly because it coincides with his own desire though. Queen Bea barely has any mothering instinct for her own children, and absolutely no love or kindness for children who had ties to her husband long before she did.
Ten still has no love and very little respect for his new wife. She constantly finds faults with his older children, and barely spends any time with her own children. In fact, Princess Lucy has basically been dismissed from Queen Bea's affection because of the time and affection that Lucy shows to Lia, Pax and Dachy. Ten makes scheduled stops in Queen Bea's bed when she is not pregnant. And he stays away from her bed for until the new child has celebrated his first year, obstinately to "give the Queen's body time to heal". However, Queen Bea sends the babies off to a wet nurse as soon as they are born, and is perfectly healthy within 2 moons of the birth, if not sooner. Because of Ten's continued avoidance of Queen Bea, many things have slipped his notice. And because of Queen Bea's expertise in the bed chamber, questions are forgotten until asking means Ten actually seeking out Queen Bea's company outside of the bed chamber... something that he is loathe to consider.
As for Queen Bea, she couldn't be happier with Estienne's eschewal of her. This gives her plenty of time to wield her influence as Queen Beatrix of Elsey, and to secretly support her father, King Dov of Uwit's subterfuge. Her biggest problems are Royal Father Wulf, who always seems to be asking her to lunch or happening to walk out at the same time she is, and Prince Basi who outright stalks her. It seems like everybody is constantly getting in her way! However, there is a poison... and Queen Bea plans on slipping some to Royal Father Wulf here soon... and of course Basi. She might even be able to slip some to her husband, King Estienne. That thought always makes her smile. What would her father think if she ruled this kingdom? Would he be proud? Would he try and get back into her bed then... and would she allow him? That is one of the biggest pains about being married in this foreign country... their instance on monogamy. There are so many healthy young men whom Queen Bea would love to take for a ride... but that can not happen until she is done birthing brats for King Estienne.
Overall, the Kingdom appears to be at peace once again. However, the common people of Elsey still miss Queen Felipa greatly. The differences between Queen Felipa and Queen Beatrix are obvious to the whole of the country, and only become more so as they years pass. Queen Felipa loved her children, and went away from tradition just to have a closer, more special relationship with them. Queen Beatrix can hardly stand being pregnant, and wants nothing to do with her children unless they are groomed and quiet. Queen Felipa and King Estienne chose fun, quirky names that have a meaning and history within the Kingdom of Elsey, but aren't common (although many parents started choosing them after the birth of each child!). Queen Felipa and King Estienne also chose to be more grounded and use the minimum two middle names required for Royal children. Queen Beatrix has insisted upon using names popular in Uwit, no matter how foreign they look and feel to the people of Elsey. She has also gone overboard on middle names, another custom from Uwit. And, after the fight over Princess Lucy's first name, King Estienne has decided that it just wasn't worth it... After all, he loves all of his children equally, no matter what types of names they have!
