I don't hate Gordon, but I don't exactly like it, either. I don't have the most positive associations for the name, and I really dislike its most obvious nicknames, Gord and Gordie.
I love, love, love Martha, on the other hand. It is full of quirky, old-fashioned charm, as you said, and deserves to be revived.
