[Opinions] Full name and nickname
Some of the names that works in nickname like Tessa for Teresa.
But some of the names like Ginny/Jinny for Virginia , I may think that is not a complete name. What do you think about Dani for Danica/Danielle
Eve for Eva/Evangeline
Penny for Penelope
Em for EmmaDo you think that names should go with the full name version?

It depends on what it is. I think that Eve is perfectly fine on its own, for example. I prefer Penelope "Penny", but Penny works on its own, too. I find Em lacking by itself and prefer it as a nickname for something longer like Emma, Emily, or Emilia.I like Dani better as a nickname. There are some names that I only like the nicknames and not the full names. I've never been overly fond of Katherine, but I like Katie. I think its fine without a full name. Same with Kate and Kay.

Ginny, Dani and Em would be better suited as NNs in my opinion. Tessa, Eve/Eva, and Penny can all work on their own

I prefer to use a full name with a nn. That being said, some nicknames are far superior to the full versions. I love Tessa, but I can't stand Teresa. I love Penny, but Penelope is just okay. I love Ginny, and frankly, I love Virginia too, but I know she'd get made fun of. I especially love Margot and Eliza! They're nicknames that don't need full names. Eve can stand on its own, but Em and Dani can't, imo.

I think every nickname mentioned here should stay a nickname. Although I wouldn't really mind seeing Penny on its own since it's also a word. And if Dani were spelled Dannie, I don't totally mind that on its own either only because I went to college with one and I (out of character!) think it's cute on its own.

So you think Eve and Eva should be nicknames only????

HaNo, I missed that part.

Dani for Danica/Danielle - I don't especially like Dani, as I think it's more of a boys name. It does work as a nickname for those.
Eve for Eva/Evangeline - Love Eve and Eva. I think both work as separate names and don't need a full version. I wouldn't use Eve as a nickname for Eva since Eva is so short, it doesn't really need a nickname. Eve or Eva both make nice nicknames for Evangeline.
Penny for Penelope - Love it.
Em for Emma - This is my name, and I always go by Em, but I definitely prefer to have a longer version to use for official things, at work and such.Usually I prefer to see a full name used with a nickname, rather than just a nickname on it's own. However there are some which don't sound so nicknamey and can work alone. Your example of Tessa, for example, works alone without the full name Teresa. I usually think that very short nicknames (e.g. Em) or nicknames which end in "y" or "ie" require a full name. The worst nickname-as-fullname which I've seen is Hel. Not short for Helen, just Hel.

Oh I do love Eve a lot recently. It's just such a nice name.
Some of the names e.g. Blair which doesnt have a nickname, it's really perfect!
WDYT?

I don't especially like Blair, as it just make me think of the former Prime Minister Tony Blair! I do like Claire though, which is similar.I do like some short names which don't need nicknames, similar to Eve. For example, I love Alice, Carys, Freya, Flora, Iris, Lois, Esme and Isla.
