[Opinions] Re: Margot, Margo, Margaux
in reply to a message by Adenydd
I love this name! I'd use it on its own without hesitation, but if I decided to use Margaret instead, she'd almost certainly be Margo to me.
For a long time, I was a "Margot or nothing" sort of girl, but I've come around and, while I still love Margot, Margo is now my favorite spelling. It eliminates the visual similarity to "maggot" that plagues Margot, and I'm confident not even the biggest idiot would mispronounce Margo as "Mar + got."
Margaux is the one spelling I hate...and I hate it with a passion. It strips Margot/Margo of all of its elegance, intelligence, and charm and puts it in the Brandy and Chardonnay class of names.
