Help[Opinions] Saga
I've been really loving Saga lately.
What do you think of it? Does it work? Is it ridiculous? The only real issue that bothers me somewhat is the idea that a possible Saga may get teased with "sag" or "saggy", even though the vowel sounded isn't quite pronounced the same.
One of my other favorite names is Freya. Would Saga and Freya be too much together? I suspect yes, but I suppose I'm looking for other people to either confirm or deny this suspicion for me.

I think it sounds dorky in the western world because of what comes to mind when we hear the word saga... First thing that pops in my mind is "The Saga Begins" by Weird Al... My lack of like for the name Freya would be completely separate from the Saga thing... I'd prob'ly think the parents simply had very different naming tastes than I do and would wonder why anyone on earth would call a kid Saga.

Honestly, it sounds "fat" to me. I think it's because a saga is a continuing, epic thing, so I can't help but picture the name as larger than life. :/

This is a hard one. I'm torn -- I absolutely love the sound of Saga, but I don't think the name looks very attractive. There's also the association with the word, which is commonly used in the English language. So I'm not sure what to think! However, I don't think a potential Saga with be teased with "saggy" because of the pronunciation. Someone unfamiliar with the word might pronounce it like sag-uh, though.
On the other hand, I don't like Freya at all -- or at least with that spelling. I like Freja and Frea; Freja is sweet and feminine without frills, while Frea seems lively and makes me think of fragrant flowers in the springtime. Freya with a y just looks really ugly to me. It leaves me feeling cold.

Is Saga pronounced SAY-guh or SAH-gah? Just curious. I don't like the name much either way because it feels like a word to me. I even like word names, but this one feels more like a word than some actual word names, lol. I don't think "sag" or "saggy" will be an issue. I tend to only worry about teasing with names if it sounds like something vulgar, though.
Freya I do like, however. Saga and Freya go well together, I don't think they're too much though there is a pretty definite/obvious theme there. That can be an issue if there are more than two kids in a sibset.

I like it. I don't think saggy will be an issue, unless you pronounce it sag-uh instead of saga. I actually really like the pairing of Saga and Freya! It brings out what I like in Freya-- lately I've been seeing Freya with cutesie names like Maisie, and I don't think it fits at all. Saga and Freya would be a great sibset. They're both a little dramatic, but I like that. And I think they're both totally manageable because they aren't long or complicated, and they aren't unheard of.
