[Opinions] Nina
I usually go for longer, more formal names, but lately, I've been liking quirky, short names. Nina has been on my mind for the last few days, but I'm not sure how I totally feel about it.
Are there any names that Nina could be a good nickname for? Any good middle names? And general opinions and associations?

I feel kind of compelled to reply, because this is my name. :) I love having Nina as a name, pretty much for all the reasons the posters before me said-it's bright and fun, but also very mature. (It's also easy for me to spell, haha :P) And I don't know why, but there have been times when I wished it was a nickname for a longer name-I would personally like it as a nn for Antonia or Celestina. (I think it could work.)
But if you would use Nina as a given name, I think it should be paired with a longer, more formal middle name, in order to balance it out, such as Elizabeth or Virginia. (Incidentally, these were middle names my mom considered for me-both family names.)

Oh, Nina is great. It's energetic and fun, but at the same time, sort of no-nonsense and competent. I really like it, and I think its an overlooked gem. I prefer it as a full name on its own, but I think it could be a nickname for any name that ends in -nina or -ina.

I love Nina, as either a full name or a nickname. It's bright and snappy and a little fiery. I can see it on a young girl or a grandmother. I think it's the highest-rated name on my PNL, too.
If I were to use it as a nickname, it would probably be for Eponine -- while I love Nina itself, there aren't any names that end in -nina that I really like.
