I love it, and I think it's completely usable.

I like it and find it sorely underused.

It's pretty routine where I live, and gets shortened to Deon; which is a whole lot better than Giddy. It's too sand-in-the-sandals biblical for me, but some will find it suitable for that very reason.

YES. In fact, I have this on my list for future baby boys!

Definitely useable. The first thing that comes to my mind is The Beatles' Rocky Raccoon. =)

I like Gideon. It has a nice energy to it. I think it's usable, but it bums me out that I can't come up with any realistic nicknames for it. I would like it even more if Giddy could be avoided.

I like Gideon as well. I definitely think it's usable. I'm also not a fan of Giddy, but I don't mind Gid. It kind of reminds me of Sid, which I also like.

nicknameHow about Gidders? I've heard it on a little boy and I thought it was adorable.

Sorry, I don't like it either. I also don't like Gid. I like Deon to an extent, but it sounds kind of awkward/unnatural as a nickname for Gideon. Sigh. I guess if I were somehow to use it I would have to insist on the full name.

Well, you certainly don't have to be sorry about not liking a nickname. :)
What about just "G" as a nickname?
Truthfully, I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to use the full name. Gideon is really only 2ish syllables. Unless you really enunciate the 3 syllables.
