[Opinions] Dawson
I need help are there any cute nick names for Dawson?
My baby is due in April and Dawson is my maiden name. My father and paternal grandfather were both born in April so I am really leaning toward Dawson as the boy's name option except I need a cute nick name.
While we are at it opinions and combos are welcome! As well as nick names for Scarlett.
Thanks for the help.
FYI We do not - not do nick names.

Don? Dawn? Daws to rhyme toss?
I don't like it. I apologize. Besides, I cannot imagine giving my son my maiden name as a first name, despite the fact that it is commonly used as a first name for boys - more commonly than Dawson, and I like it better than Dawson too. It just seems pretentious to me... using surnames as first names says (to me anyway) "my family is important [implied: rich], and we do think we're special, and we know you will too" Maybe I'm the only one who feels that way, and I'm sorry to dump it in your thread about a real child, but I've been ready to say that for a while and there it is.
You could call him Awesome. It sounds similar enough. D'awesome
From your list I like:
Drake
Gideon
Jasper
Magnus (Mags! &hearts)
Rhett
Ronan
Talon (or Talan)
Thane
Zane
all better than Dawson.
Still and all, if you name him Dawson, I know perfectly well that it's not a *bad* name. =)

I can't use Don because well my father and grandfather wher Donald M. Dawson Jr & SR. and I just dont love them that much ahaha. I like the idea of using my surname because well I love it and always have. I am not a "fan" of my married name and love my maiden name so much. I think Dawson is rather hard to make into a first name. I dislike Daws or Dawes, as I stated I will not use Don and Sonny is way to out there for me. I was thinking more along the lines of Dane. Funny enough Awesome D'awesome was my nickname in gymnastics. We are not rich so I guess I never thought of it as pretenious just honoring without using the name. Plus my husband is Ron as is his father and thats just too many on's for me!
I love Dawson, it is so cute. I babysit a little Dawson Parker which I think is adorable. We call him Dawsie or Dawsy right now but probably won't when he gets bigger. A lot of the time we just call him D and that's what his parents call him.
Scarlett - Everyone seems to use Scar but I don't like that. Carly? Etta? Ettie? Arlett?
