--You have been asked to help Rachel Isaacs care for the injured and the sick. How do you handle this new responsibility? Do you leave Toni with the babysitting group or do you take her with you? There are other teenagers on the island as well, 16 year old Justin Hart and his brother 14 year old David Hart. Do you feel you are able to relate with them about the whole situation since you are close in age? And how do you feel about the island's self-appointed leader, Joel?
As the "meeting" breaks up and Heidi is asked to help Rachel, she sighs. The pressure of all this was getting to everyone. She was willing to help, happy that she would get the chance to. Heidi had to admit to herself that she was glad Joel had stepped up and taken control of the group. Without a leader, even a self imposed one, they were going to get nowhere.
Heidi turns to Toni. She didn't really want to leave here with the babysitting group but she knew she had to learn to trust the others on the island at some point. She might as well start now. "Toni, I need you to stay with the other kids while I'm helping Ms. Isaacs, ok?" she says gently.
"But, I wanna go with you," Toni pouts. "I know, me too," Heidi says. "But you need to get to know the other kids, make some more friends. We don't know how long we'll be here and we're gonna need to learn to cooperate with the others, ok?" Toni doesn't looked thrilled with the idea but she nods anyway. Heidi guides her to the others kids. "I'll see you later," she says giving her a hug.
As Heidi walks away to find Rachel, she notices the other two teenagers that were also on the island. Justin and David she thought. She had barely interacted with anyone except Toni since being stranded here and realized glumly that she should take her own advice that she had given Toni and make some friends. She was sure it wouldn't be too hard, they were in the same situation. Unless of course they were the kind of teens who got hostile and grumpy under bad circumstances. She shakes her head. I sure hope we get off this island soon, she thinks to herself.

As Toni watches Heidi walk away, tears fill her eyes once again, but she quickly wipes them away. She was crying too much lately. Sure, she had reason to want to cry, but it was time to be strong. She was seven, she could handle this.
She didn't really want to stay with the babysitting group, she wanted Heidi. However, she knew that Heidi was right, there wasn't much Toni could do and Heidi needed to help. She should become friends with the other kids, get to know them. They were probably feeling the same way she was, lost, tired, scared; they wanted to go home too.
Managing a weak smile, she walks up to the other kids. I'll just make the most of a bad situation, I guess, she tells herself. She shyly introduces herself.
