[Opinions] Nathan
I know Nathaniel has a trendier sound but I'm really, really digging Nathan right now. I like how simple and strong it is. Thoughts & Opinions? (I also love the sibling set Thomas & Nathan or Thomas & Margaret)

I really like both Nathan and Nathaniel. I prefer Nathan, actually, but both are great!
Having just spent the day with Nathan the kid I babysit for who refuses to take naps, I'd have to say that the name reminds of me a kid possessed by Satan who enjoys throwing blocks at peoples' heads.
That aside, I actually like the name a lot. It's a good stalwart, traditional WASPy name. There's nothing you could find wrong with it. I don't really like Nathaniel, I don't like the -aniel part. It sounds like Spaniel.

LOL
Nathan's pictures and stories are what made me love the name.

Nathan is now a favorite of mine for it not being as trendy sounding.
I think Nathan is fine as a name on it's own. I don't know any Nathaniels but I know 2 Nathans - my boyfriend, who is 20, and a boy from preschool, who is 3. Thomas and Nathan go really well together.
I like it very much, and probably would consider using it if I were an English speaker.
Nathan grew on me too in recent months! I actually slightly prefer it to Nathaniel now.
Aww.
Nathan is nice, just pleasant and easygoing. It seems as if I've never met a Nathan I didn't like.
I've never met a Nathan or Nathaniel that didn't go by Nate. I think that'd be easy enough to avoid, though, if you didn't care for it. Nathan isn't exactly a long or complicated name.

I've never liked Nathan. I have a hard time pinpointing why, especially since I love Nathanial enough that it was one of my top choices when I was naming my son. It might be that horse-like NAY at the beginning of Nathan that torpedoes it for me.
On the plus side, Nathan is a sturdy, uncomplicated name that would probably never cause a boy a moment's trouble. There's something to be said for that. It goes really well with Thomas (and Margaret, too).

I don't really like it. I just picture an annoying kid, and Nathan feels kind of trendy to me (perhaps it's just in my area). I like Nathaniel better, but I guess it does have a trendy sound right now.
Thomas & Margaret is a great sibset!

I've never been a fan, the sound is really trendy with the 'nay' and then 'than' sound in it. It's funny that you think Nathaniel has a trendier sound, I think quite the opposite - to me its more pretentious, although I guess pretentious names could be considered trendy - it depends how you look at things.
Thomas & Margaret are great together! Very English. Thomas & Nathan go well together too, definitely sound like brothers to me

Nathan is my son's name (Nathan James) so of course I love it. We call him Nath for short as I don't really like Nate.
I like Nathan and do love Nathan and Thomas (and Margaret) together, but something is stopping me from really liking it and I'm not sure what it is. Maybe because I have a cousin named Nathan, so it doesn't sound very fresh to me. Then again, I love Thomas and I've known a lot of boys/men named Thomas...
