Year 1- Family Event
Carla and I met in Paris when I began my job there as an editor for a French magazine. She is an interior designer and was born in Paris. I was born in Ontario, Canada to an English-Canadian father and a Croatian mother. Carla and I met through friends at the magazine I work at and fell in love. We moved in together six months later and were married two years after that. It has been a life long dream of mine to go back to school to become a chef and I recently got the opportunity to attend a prestigious culinary school in Paris. It is a dream come true.
Year 2- Family Event
It has been a good year, but the last month has been horrible. I have been bedridden because a month ago I was running in the rain trying to quickly cross a busy street and slipped and broke my leg. Unfortunately a passing car slid on the wet street while trying to stop and hit me breaking my left shoulder and several bones in my right leg. I am a mess, but Carla has been taking very good care of me. She is working from her studio at home while I recover. I couldn't ask for a better nurse!
Year 3- Birth
A few months after I recovered from my accident we found out that Carla was pregnant. We both love children and were very excited, although worried about having space for a baby in our tiny Paris apartment. The pregnancy seemed to go by very fast and Carla loved it. She spent months decorating and redecorating our spare bedroom and making a beautiful nursery for our new baby. Our tiny little daughter was born two weeks ago. She has my brown hair and her mother's green eyes. We named our baby girl Ines Célia Abrams.
Year 4- Family Event
Our little Ines is a year old now and so beautiful. She has sweet little brown ringlet curls and gorgeous green eyes like her mother. Carla is still working, but not as much and mostly from home. She loves taking our daughter around the city for walks and Ines loves it too. I have been stuck at home again with another broken bone in my right leg. I tripped over a chair at work and broke my leg in the same spot I did a couple years ago. The doctor said my bone was weakened from the past break. It's awful being in pain and not being able to work, but I love being home with Carla and Ines.
Year 5- Family Event
Ines is now 2 years old and is talking all the time (in English and French). Carla takes her to toddler group classes several times a week and little Ines has become quite popular. They are always off to some birthday party or being asked to lunch or to the park. I was recently away for a week with a friend of mine when we were given the opportunity to do some climbing in the Swiss Alps. It has always been a dream of mine and Carla was very excited that I was able to go, although she worried about my leg. I had a great trip and thankfully all of my bones came home intact.
Year 6- Random
Ines is 3 years old now. She loves books, flowers, and cats. For her third birthday we bought her a little white and black kitten. Her name is Lilou and Ines carries her everywhere.
Year 7- Celebration
We visited Canada this year so Ines, who is now 4 years old, could meet her grandparents and to spend Easter with them. It was a wonderful trip and my parents couldn't get enough of their cute little French granddaughter. Of course Lilou the cat had to come since Ines doesn't go anywhere without her. We spent two weeks there and I had fun showing Carla where I grew up.
Year 8- Birth
Carla and I just brought home our new baby girl. Ines (5) is so excited to have a baby sister and has even forgotten about Lilou the cat for a while. Our new daughter has brown curly hair and green eyes just like her sister and we decided to name her Lucie Salomé Abrams. Carla loves having two little girls to dress up and I love having three girls in the house too.
Year 9- Family Event
My parents flew to Paris for a few weeks to visit. Ines (6) and Lucie (1) were very excited to see their grandparents and Carla and I were excited to show them around the city. We had a wonderful time and my parents can't wait to come back and visit again.
Year 10- Celebration
Carla and I just spent a wonderful week by ourselves in Italy for our anniversary. It was such a nice and relaxing trip and we were able to enjoy some much needed "grown-up time". Ines (7) and Lucie (2) spent the week with my parents who flew in to stay with them. They of course loved having their granddaughters all to themselves for a week and we were very thankful they came!
