I like it for a pet. I'm just not sure I like it for a human. ;-)

hate the american nick name of Casey for it. Casey is fine, but it's no nick name for Casimir in my book.

I love the name Casimir and the nn Cas too! To me, it's edgy and cool, yet charming and royal-sounding too. I would actually use it as a first name if I didn't love the name Casper so much.

I think it's very soft and expensive.

I think you're thinking of cashmere. :) Unless you just mean that Casimir makes you think of cashmere? And now I have the Seinfeld episode with the cashmere sweater in my head...

I love it. If I used it IRL it would probably be a mn, but I'd definitely like it as a fn too. It would also make a good character name- I can totally see it as an exiled prince of the desert or something :D

I think it is adventurous and dashing.

Very exotic but also a little sinister sounding in my book. I love the nn Cas though. :)

I never thought much about it until I noticed it on the name of a church in the area where my parents used to live. It struck me as feeling very adventurous, but also quite academic. Like he wouldn't be such an impetuous globetrotter. He would be very observant of what he saw and write it all down when he returned home from his adventures. And keep all his books in his awesome library.I made the combos Casimir Reuben and Casimir Rudyard, and love both.

Pronounced like cashmere?

I love Casimir. Not enough to use it, but I do think it's very cool and has a lot of character. One of my very close friends has the middle name Casimir, and it just works. It's one of those names that goes great in the middle name spot, I think because of how it sounds. Some possible combos (from my list) would be Adrian Casimir, Evren Casimir, Matthias Casimir, and, if you wanted to do something completely over-the-top and ridiculous, Servatius Casimir.

I know someone on another board who has a son called this. I really like it.
