I like it a lot. I say it like Helen-ah. I think a sophisticated yet active and strong-willed person would have this name. Also someone a little bit "out-there" with ideas others don't usually think of. It's adventurous, smart and chic.
I pronounce it differently depending on the combo it's in. I think I usually say HEH-len-uh
My sister's name! I remember when she was in the womb my mom debating between Heh-LAYN-ah and He-LEEN-ah pronunciations and finally she chose He-LEEN-ah because she liked Lena as a nick name better than Lane or Lanie.
I think of Helena as being He-LEEN-ah because of my sister. I have also met a Heleena which I didn't find offensive really. I can understand why they chose that spelling because my sister is CONSTANTLY correcting people when they say Helen-ah and He-LAYN-ah. When I asked her which pronunciation she gets most, she says it's pretty even. So no matter what you go with, it isn't likely that people will call her one thing or another "most of the time".

I hate hate HATE when it's pronounced Helen-ah. That sounds like an old lady to me for some reason. Now excuse my rant, it's just a pet peeve of mine for this name and I could never love it because the two pronunciations.

I don't like the Helen-ah pronunciation either. It seems so weird to me. I only like it pronounced heh-LAY-nah or heh-LEE-nah.

I say it Hel-EEN-ah, mostly because it was my best friend's name as was pronounced so. I picture a person somewhat like my friend to have the name; superbly artistic, caring, sweet, and cheerful.
