[Opinions] Penny?

One of the reasons I go from loving Penelope to disliking it is the fact that I find the go-to nicknames to be unattractive. "Penny" is the lowest-valued American coin (though perhaps this comes to my mind only because I'm American), and "Pen" is something you write with. Someone suggested Poppy to me once as a nickname, and while I initially liked it better than Penny & Pen, Poppy admittedly leaves much room for teasing...
So, I've settled on Penelope as a middle name. As for Penny as a full name... well, I think I've said quite enough, haven't I? :-)

I don't like it. It just doesn't seem like a name to me. All I think of is the coin.
I like Penny. I actually have a somewhat darker image of it, stemming from the tradition of "Penny Dreadfuls" - cheap Victorian publishings of lurid tales. They are totally fascinating, and actually helped me like the name more, which before I branded as cutesy and airheaded. Now it's scrappy, waif-thin and wiry, yet also roughly kind-hearted to me. She's a little scuffed up, but Penny shines.
Penny as a nn for Penelope is good, but I also like Peninnah, or even Aspen or Spencer, as unisex options. (Spencer has the added option of "Pence" as a nn - how excellent is that).

My cousins little girl's name is Penni (just Penni). I think it is adorable. I don't remember her MN. Penelope is cute too. Either way, short or long, works, IMO.
It is also kind of cute, because my son's name is Lennon. We have a bit of a Beatles theme going on in my family ;)
Penny Rae
Penny Marie
Penny Lucille
Penny Jane
Penny Lane (I know it is obvious... but it is cute)
Penelope Anne
Penelope Sage
Penelope Renee
Penelope Roxanne
Penelope Margaret

I love Penny and was just thinking about it. It is a happy name to me, I picture a smiley girl with brunette hair. Unfortunately I don't like the name Penelope at all but at the same time think Penny is better as a nickname. Doesn't make sense because I can't think of another name I would use it as a nickname for. Anyway, sweet name!
Penny is an adorable nn. Of course Penelope works perfectly well. But how about Parthenope ("par-THEN-uh-pee")? It's not as direct, but I think it could still fly.
My image? Is my late grandmother who just died earlier this month. Her full name was Penelope, nicknamed Penny. I thought it was pretty cool that her name was Penelope, maybe leaving potential for honouring there. Her middle name was Ann but I think Penelope does do better with a one syllable or maybe a good two syllable middle name.
I have an aunty who is Penelope nn Penny, well actually she is never called Penelope. Also about two weeks ago a cousin of my best friend gave birth to a baby girl and named her Penny, just Penny.
I like the name but definitely prefer it as a nickname not a full name.
I think of Penny from the tv show The Big Bang Theory when I hear the name.

I love Penny as a full name on its own!
I quite like Penny, but I don't think I could ever use it as a full name. I think it's bright and sunny, and it would be my first choice for a nickname for Penelope.
