Honestly? If I heard it on a white kid who had no ties to Hinduism other than the fact that his parents read a little about it, I would think they were trying too hard to appear multicultural. It's not right of me, but it is what it is.

Goes a bit beyond reading a 'bit' about it.
Hinduism and Buddhism are quickly becoming my thing and will probably remain that way. I don't know if it's a passing phase but I've become more and more interested in it. My aunt spent decades in India and the culture has always been fascinating to me, and it's continued to be a major influence on the majority of our family.
