[Opinions] Valencia and Grady
Just heard one of my husband's friends is thinking of naming his baby Valencia Ann, nn Leni. WDYT? I think it's kind of nice though I don't love Leni.
Also a cousin of his is due with a boy in a few days and has just about settled on the name Grady, which I'm not really too keen on but I like it better than Brady.

Valencia is so weird as a name imo I don't like it. Plus, I hear that people in English tend to pronounce it vah-len-SEE-a, which sounds horrible to me. Leni is cute as a nickname though, I have a friend named Madeleine nn Leni. With Ann as a middle name, it sounds like a choppy way to say "Valencian"...
I'm not keen on Grady either.

I'm not that keen on Grady either, but agree that it's better then Brady. I like Valencia and I like Leni as a nickname. I'm not liking Ann but it's fine as a middle name.
I think that Valencia is pretty but it's nms. Leni has been growing on my lately, I think it's cute. Overall I like it, but it does bother me a bit that Valencia ends in 'a' and Ann starts with 'a'.
Grady just makes me think of the Graty, that thing that comes with the Slapchop.

Well, I used to live on an orange farm so all I can think of is the orange Valencia. I guess it's not a terrible name, but I just can't see it on a person, it's all orange for me.
Grady is nmsaa, but it's not the worst.

Leni is the best part about Valencia, to me. I'm not a big fan of Valencia. But there's nothing wrong wwith it either (if you don't mind thinking of delicious oranges -- oh, the marmalade, yum) and it is spelled correctly. So overall, Valencia, nn Leni, is just fine.
It's interesting they went with a fillerish mn like Ann. It's my name and I do love it. But as a mn it always seems a cop-out. It doesn't match the style of Valencia at all. But again, I have nothing really against it either.
Grady? Reminds me of gravy.

I think I would like Leni except that I know two men with that name (spelled differently) and so I just see it as a guy's name. I do think if you use Valencia you need a nickname though, it's too frilly to use on it's own so Leni's fine I guess. I am happy they didn't choose Val as a nn.
I don't know why they chose Ann, I think it may be the mother's middle name.
